Q. Hi, Ryan. How did you start and how long have you worked at Budd Van Lines (BVL)?
A. I’ve been working at Budd Van Lines since 1999. A friend of my brothers was an owner operator for Budd and asked if I would like to come along on a job. I said “yes” and been here ever since.
Q. What was your first position and responsibilities at BVL?
A. Warehouse Worker. I began as a packer, helper, and loader.
Q. What is your current title?
A. Warehouse Supervisor.
Q. What are your current responsibilities?
A. While I wear many hats, my primary focus is to support our drivers. I provide them with everything they need to be successful while giving them a sense of, “home away from home.” This is as straightforward as insuring they have the right equipment, dedicated labor, funding, or even taking them out to a nice meal when they’re at my warehouse. Drivers are our bread and butter here at Budd and making sure they’re happy makes everyone’s life better, especially the client.
Another highlight of my day, week, year is going out into the field on a QC (Quality Control). This is where I can see firsthand all my hard work payoff in the faces of a satisfied client, as we eliminate as much stress from an already stressful situation, moving.
Q. How is it working at Budd Van Lines?
A. I have been here since I was a kid. I feel at home here and am proud of the “BUDD WAY.” I can’t picture myself being anywhere else. I come to our facility every day knowing whatever issue or problem that arises will be solved due to the experience of our crew and staff. Even on our most stressful of days you will see a smile on my face.
Q. What is your favorite part of your job?
A. Facing challenges head on and finding the right solutions. Every day is interesting. I love it. I bleed Budd Blue.
Q. Would you recommend a career at Budd Van Lines to your family and friends?
A. I have and will continue to do so. Good work is awarded and there is always someone to listen to any concerns you may have which according to many of my friends outside of Budd is in short supply these days.
