At Budd Van Lines, we believe in honoring those who dedicate their lives to protecting our communities. That is why we proudly support the Police Unity Tour, an annual cycling event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The Mission of the Police Unity Tour

The Police Unity Tour was founded in May 1997 by Officer Patrick P. Montuore of the Florham Park Police Department. Its primary mission is to bring public awareness to the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. The secondary goal is to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum in Washington, D.C.

What began with just 18 riders has grown into a nationwide event consisting of eight chapters and nearly 2,100 members participating in a four-day, fundraising bicycle ride. Each year, the Tour culminates at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, where participants honor fallen officers and their families.

Budd Van Lines: A Longtime Supporter

Budd Van Lines has proudly supported the Police Unity Tour for many years, standing alongside the brave men and women who put their lives on the line for our safety. As a company that values service, integrity, and community, we recognize the importance of honoring those who serve and ensuring that their sacrifices are never forgotten.

Our support goes beyond financial contributions. Over the years, our team has been actively involved in spreading awareness about the Police Unity Tour and encouraging participation from both within and outside the company. We believe in the Tour’s mission and remain committed to doing our part in remembering and honoring fallen officers.

The Journey to Honor the Fallen

Each May, the Police Unity Tour participants embark on a physically and emotionally demanding journey from New Jersey to Washington, D.C. Riders train extensively for this event, knowing that their efforts help raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

Upon arriving at the Memorial, the riders are greeted by friends, family members, and the survivors of fallen officers. Many participants present remembrance bracelets worn throughout the journey to the families of those they are honoring, further reinforcing the deep emotional impact of the event.

In 2024, the Police Unity Tour proudly donated $2.2 million to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, bringing the total contributions to over $37.5 million since its inception. This funding supports the Museum’s Hall of Remembrance, the Memorial Fund’s Officer of the Month Award, and other programs dedicated to preserving the legacy of law enforcement officers.
