As a Client Service Manager, Michele Alexander is one of Budd Van Line’s most dedicated and hardworking individuals. However, for the purposes of this blog, we wanted to ask Michele about her other job as mother.
You see, recently Michele’s son Jayden Alexander was cast in a short film entitled, “Swerve” which is described as, “when Van Xander is given the chance to mentor 15-
year-old Eli, who’s trying to make a name in Philly’s wheelie culture, they’ll ride for each other.”
The role of that “15-year-old Eli” was where our story begins because it is the role Jayden was cast to play.
We sat down with Michele to ask some questions to learn more about this once in a lifetime experience.
How long has Jayden (he) been interested in acting?
Truth be told, he wasn’t until he landed this part. The Writer Raphael Xavier and Director Gary Dourdan said, “he’s a natural.”
Did he have to audition for the role as Eli Blake?
Yes, there were formal auditions where he had to read the script (with emotions) which was provided prior to the audition.
Does he “swerve” in real life or did he have to learn for the part?
Jayden has been swerving since 2018. He can wheelie and do tricks. His dad bought his first stunt bike 2018.
How long was the shoot?
We were on the set for a total of 7 days.
Was the experience a good one for him and your family?
It was a great experience to meet the crew and see how a short film is shot. Being around each other for those seven days, was like being around friends and family. Although the next crew may not be this easy going, but this was an experience we will never forget. Jayden was very nervous, excited, and humbled to be a part of this project. We are very proud of him!
Does he plan on pursuing more acting roles?
Once he sees the final project, this may spark his interest again! Right now, he’s into basketball!
Do you have an update on the film? Due to come out sometime 2023. The Alexander’s are patiently waiting!
